Top 55

I love today's advice from my Tiny Buddha calendar that I received as a gift from my friend, Kimberley and it is very fitting for 2022. "Take time out to reflect on and identify your own needs, desires and dreams....Commit to making a conscious effdort to start prioritizing these areas more in your life."

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of my Top 45 at 45 list. Over the past few months I have been rereading my blog from 10 years ago in order to turn it into a book when it dawned on me that it was TEN YEARS AGO. Being OCD like I am, I like round numbers including round numbered birthdays, round numbered anniversaries and round numbers when pumping my gas (in case you were wondering, I put gas into the tank until the dollar amount reaches a 5 or a zero, not the number of gallons).

Similar to my Top 45, my Top 55 this year focuses on my needs, desires and dreams. These are things that I have wanted to do or dreamt about doing over the last 10 years. One on the list, a photography class, is a hold over from 10 years ago! As Emerson quotes, once you expand your mind and realize all that you can get done in an hour, a week, a month or even a year, it is hard to not keep stretching.  In fact, a good friend who heard about my Top 45, has been doing a Tops list every year for the last ten and some newer friends have created lists for themselves.

We have all been through so much over the last few years so I questioned whether or not I would take this on this year. Upon reflection, I realized it is important to do this, FOR me.  I do this in memory of my Momma, my Haitian mom, my father-in-law and one of my aunts, all of whom we miss dearly.

If you are so inclined, feel free to reach out to me and let me know if there is something on the list that speaks to you and that you want to be a part of.  I know that there is a BIG asterisk in all of our lives, Covid-19,  so I am giving myself some grace in completion of this list.

In no particular order, here is the list:

I am starting a bit later than I did when I did my Top 45, however I still believe I can tackle these things within 12 months.

And off we go!
